National Best in American Living Award Winning Horseshoe Bay Lakefront Estate

Nestled in the rolling Hill Country of Texas is the custom lakefront retreat designed for a couple seeking an exquisite waterfront gathering place for family and friends. Surrounded on three sides by water, this uniquely shaped property sits on the tip of a peninsula along the southern side of Lake Lyndon B Johnson, providing one of the most expansive views in Horseshoe Bay. The award winning team at Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes worked with these clients who lived in another city during the entire construction period to bring their vision to life. Ultimately, the unique features abundant throughout this lakefront estate combined with the quality of craftsmanship by Zbranek & Holt culminated in this project being awarded the National Best in American Living award by the National Association of Home Builders.

Conceptually, the design focused on creating a Mediterranean style retreat for the family to come together and enjoy the relaxed, outdoor lifestyle from the regions where the design style is derived. The recreation of comfort, a connection to the outdoors, and unpretentious luxury were key elements to the homeowners’ idyllic lakefront home. The floor plan is structured around the expansive Great Room; a trademark double-volume gathering space representing the importance of family as the heart of their home. Two symmetrical guest wings flank the centralized community zone, and integrated outdoor living spaces on the front and lake side complete the open, airy design. Stone cladding, tile roof, vintage rolled steel windows, rusticated wood trusses, reclaimed ceilings, and rolled plaster walls echo the indigenous aesthetic and breathe a sense of life into the home. Celebrating spectacular outdoor spaces was another significant concept for the retreat. Upon entry to the house, a large centralized courtyard greets you, full of lush greenery, an enchanting fountain and a stone fireplace; providing the perfect setting for entertaining, lounging in the grotto or sipping wine by the fire.
